Terms of Service

1. What Phaze is

Phaze is a peer-to-peer communication platform provided "as is" by the Phaze project maintainers. The client software is open-source; the public relay at phazechat.world is operated on a best-effort basis with no availability guarantee.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for your credentials. If you lose access, we can help via email-based password reset only.
• One human per account. Automated agents and bulk registration are prohibited.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Phaze to:

• Harass, threaten, or stalk others.
• Distribute malware, phishing, or CSAM. Any report of CSAM will result in immediate account termination and referral to appropriate authorities.
• Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam) to users who have not added you as a contact.
• Evade blocks, rate limits, or abuse-prevention measures.

4. E2EE and content moderation

Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot read or proactively moderate conversations. Reports of abuse are handled reactively via the in-app Report flow. Reporters provide the relevant message context themselves.

5. Service changes, termination

• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.
• We may shut down or move the public relay with 14 days' notice posted at /support. Because Phaze supports self-hosting and a sovereign DHT, the software continues to function without our relay.

6. No warranty

Phaze is provided without any warranty, express or implied. You use it at your own risk. We are not liable for any loss of data, messages, or communication failures.

7. Open source

The Phaze client and Nexus server are released under the MIT license. Source code: Phaze on GitHub (repository slug may differ from the product name until a rename).
